Writer
Inspiration to write. Ah! One of the friendliest hellos.
Whether I'm writing a one person show, corporate entertainment, anecdotal stories for my newspaper column, SPNY (The Age, Melbourne, Australia), a story for Marlo Thomas’s Right Words At The Right Time, Vol.2, educational material, a speech, or a celebrity interview, what matters to me is that I'm writing.
Sometimes it’s from my seat in an airplane looking out at all the fluffy white. Sometimes it’s on a beach eating peaches, getting sunburned and not caring.
Once it was at Jacque Brel’s grave on Hiva Oa, one of the glorious Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia.
Sometimes I’m in a theatre wondering why something so funny isn’t making anyone laugh.
I might be in a classroom or studio thinking about different ways to teach something so that everyone gets it.
In moments of solitude I reflect on the places I’ve traveled, lived and worked, and the people I've met. Some brilliant. Some kooky. Some with extraordinary jewels of wisdom to offer in English, or in some other way.
