STELLA PULO

Coach/Teaching Artist
I have worked as an acting coach, teaching artist, literacy consultant and seminar leader in a variety of settings in Australia, Europe, Japan and, since 1997, the United States.

My most satisfying responsibility as a teacher is to inspire and motivate people, taking them enthusiastically from where they are to where they need to go. I differentiate all teaching according to whom I’m teaching, how they learn best and what needs to be achieved.

Whether coaching actors for auditions, conducting workshops for animators at School of Visual Arts, conducting writing seminars, guiding young adults in theatre appreciation for Lincoln Center Institute, facilitating an English language voice laboratory or teaching drama in correction centers, I encourage learning for the sake of it and not just as a means to an end.

As a literacy consultant, I model effective teaching strategies for classroom teachers, assist school principals and administrators with developing school action plans, create collaborative teaching teams and conduct
professional development.

I believe that when all else fails, try the Arts.
